So sorry to hear this Tommy. At one time Curry was like my big brother. Had not talked with him for quite a while but often thought about him. Rest in peace brother.

Curry Coster was one of those players in this area that could play with any band at any time. Very gifted ! He was the guy that got me into playing steel guitar, in fact he pay for my first guitar. over 40 years ago. His playing style was like Bobby Black with a little Curly Caulker. He love playing music so much. This one really hit me hard I will miss him dearly. we were like bothers. I love him and will miss him like so many others.

Very sorry to hear of Curry's passing, a GREAT pedal steel player. His reflection on the steel itself as a "divorce machine" hit home for many of us. R.I.P.
Retired my "Flying Pro III" playin' gigs with the "little bud" in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

I'm very sorry to hear this news. Curry was, in my opinion, as fine a steel player as any of the top names known to all in the steel world, and a down to earth, nice guy.

Re: R.I.P. Curry Coster
Man, this hurts me to the core because Curry and I go way back. I still remember the first time I ever saw and heard him. That was back in the 1970's and he was playing at a restaurant called "Widow Brown's". I walked in and the band was on break, and ol' Curry was sittin' there just tuning and noodling around, playing snippets of stuff I'd heard from Emmons and Charleton, and I thought to myself "This guy is really good!". So began a friendship that would last for almost 50 years. Curry was a genuinely nice guy; his soft voice and warm smile were always evident. I never saw him get angry or raise his voice, he was always the same, and he and I hit it off right away. We had sort of a "mutual admiration society" going on. He'd taken lessons from Buddy Charleton, and I was pretty much self-taught, and despite our styles being different, Curry really liked what I did, and I genuinely liked what did. We'd often meet up at local steel shows and jams, and at the ever-present benefit shows that were constantly going on in the Baltimore area. It seemed he was always there; a player's player, always friendly, well-dressed, professional, willing to chat; and always tasteful and dead-on with everything he played. He came over to my house some years ago, and we spent the entire day trading licks and stories, talking about guitars and guns, and listening to music. It was a day I'll cherish forever, and I only wish we'd done it more. We've lost a great guy and a great talent, and I will miss him.
Rest easy, ol' buddy.

So sad to hear of Curry's passing. May he rest in peace and hope his family finds comfort in their memories of Curry.
